I am Nik, a guitar rookie. I have taken the last year off work to enjoy time with my daughter Nadia (1 1/2). I have also purchased I believe 8 guitars in the last year, and resold a couple. You could say I'm on a tonequest. I am also studying jazz guitar. I'm turning 40 Aug 2. Cheers and glad to be here-

Welcome, guys! Glad you're here.
My name is Grant. I've been playing the guitar since I was 13. My cousin, Dave, gave me an old "Memphis" electric guitar and my dad bought me a tiny Gorilla amp and off I went, rewinding cassette tapes for hours on end; learning chords, riffs, etc. I was involved in 4 or 5 garage bands in those early years and my brother, Cory, was the drummer (playing drums since he was about 8, I think.)

I know nothing about musical theory and have never had proper training. I had Danny Combs supply a few lessons a year ago, or so, but there was so much UN-learning to be done that I determined "I am what I am."

In the tiny town of Taylor, TX, I was considered a guitar player... now, living in Nashville, the definition has changed. I'm pretty comfortable playing at home for my wife and kids. That's where my guitar-playing ambitions rest.

I am thoroughly enjoying my daughter, Grace, as I teach her to play. She's already leaps and bounds better than I was years into playing... and she's only 12.

Hi =),

I'm Connor Beale and I live in New Zealand. I have never had the opportunity to play or even see a Batson guitar but thanks to technology and Batsons marketing team; I can see digital photographs and hear digital recordings. Based on what I have seen and heard; the guitars that the guys at Batson Guitars produce are truly beautiful.

I love music and try to play any instrument possible. It's not just playing the instrument but listening to it, truly is "music to my ears". I started playing guitar at 13. Now 16, I have learnt; piano, drums and vocals. I have played; violin, saxophone, clarinet, bongos, ukelele, xylophone and much more.

Brought up in a middle-class environment; I have developed a passion for woodwork, art and music. My career pathway follows film composition and/or luthiery. The film industry is significantly growing in New Zealand and I am planning on studying my way into film composition. I am starting my study this year with a Certificate in Music due to a scholarship for excelling in music at secondary school. Unfortunately, the luthiery industry in New Zealand is terrible, we have few amazing but private luthiers scattered around the country.

Cheers,
Connor - the random kiwi haha.

Hi Folks,
My name is John Kitchen and I am a Guitaraholic. Always loved guitar and guitar music. I started playing only 8 years ago at 40. I call my fingerstyle music "NPR Background Noise". In 8 years I have gone from not knowing what a Dreadnaught is to building 4 guitars with more planned. I have been a full time self employed Portrait Photographer for over 25 years. I cover Guitar events as a passion more than an income. At A.S.I.A I donated my photography for the second time. This Symposium I also taught 2 classes on "Guitar Portraits".
I am a life student. I have studied everything from Martial Arts to 2 years of Chinese/Asian Cooking classes. I have found the Musicians and builders to be the most wonderful bunch of folks to hang and learn with.

Grant,
I got the newsletter this morning. Add that a Batson was played extensively on Peter Framptons 2010 tour. I missed 2011 so I don't know about that one.

John,
Thanks for joining in the fun. We're glad you're here. I agree. This is just about the best group of mates there is. Lutherie and making music is like an infection that, instead of eating at you, just makes you feel good and smile.

Cheers!

Hey guys!
My name is Ian and I'm from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
My love for acoustic guitars started 16 years ago and I've been worship leading with a guitar in hand ever since!
I discovered Batson through AGF and have fallen in love with it ever since!

Ian,
Sorry for the delayed response. Been nuts here in the guitar-making world.

Just wanted to welcome you to the forum and say thanks for being a fan of our work.

Now... how can we make your dream come true? ;)

Hi Guys and Gal's, I am André from South Africa. Been eyeing one of the Batson guitars for a while and purchased one from Grant during a US visit in July.
I'm a rookie player, with background in singing and flute during my childhood days. Needed a new challenge which is now really going to keep me busy. Had Carpal Tunnel Syndrome operation, on both hands 18 mnths ago. I bought the Batson which is so much softer on my hands than my other guitar, a Yamaha LLX6.
Grant thanks again for your assistance as well as the feedback and yes I'll defnitely visit on my next trip to the US. This time I'll convince the boss to pay from US location to Nashville.

I'll give my impressions from a learner with weak hands, a new guitar and a will to learn.
Cheers and enjoy!!

My dreams already came true, now I have another!! Another Batson with options my heart desires!

My advise. Stop dreaming and make it reality. I did, all the way from Africa.

My name is Scott I am considering a Batson guitar when I save the money...so I am currently gathering as much knowledge as possible on my favorites to make this decision...of course I enjoy fingerstyle the most ,but would like to find a guitar that can take some good strumming as well..If anyone can speak on this subject with a Batson I would appreciate it ...Otherwise I will just keep reading all the informative responses in the forum
